Representatives from HACA will be traveling to Malawi, a small country in southeast Africa, in late August to meet with representatives from the Society of Hemophilia and Allied Disorders (SHAD), the first step in participating in the World Federation of Hemophilia’s (WFH) Hemophilia Organization Twinning Program.
Program Manager Robin Monin and board vice-president Kate Greene will represent HACA in this initial visit to Malawi. Former board member Jennifer Sleboda and executive director Brenda Bordelon are also part of the twinning committee. Robin, Kate and Jennifer started exploring the a potential partnership back in 2019-2020, but COVID and other chapter priorities delayed that plan for a few years.
Following the assessment visit, HACA and SHAD will co-author a joint proposal to submit to WFH, and then WFH will let the organizations know by January if they have been accepted into the program.
Robin is starting a mailing list to share news directly related to the twinning journey. Click here to sign up for that list. The newsletters and other updates will be posted on this website.
