HACA held its annual Holiday Party and Winter Festival at Burke Lake Park on December 11. Because of ongoing COVID concerns, we made the decision in October to change locations. This was our first winter outdoor event, but we were determined to be able to see each other in person and spread some holiday cheer! We were worried about snow and frigid temperatures, but instead we got amazing temperatures for December — and maybe a bit more wind than we bargained for.

The kids had a blast chasing each other around the playground and sipping hot chocolate, while the adults enjoyed catching up and snacking on subs and chicken tenders. There were two highlights this year. The first was the arrival of Jolly Old St. Nick and his lovely wife (David and Terry Stone) who passed out gifts to the kids. The other was the first-ever epic HACA “snowball” fight that went on for almost 20 minutes. Thanks to Michelle Stielper for the suggestion.

This will be a new HACA tradition — with cotton snowballs, we can even bring the activity indoors. Another highlight was the photo booth from FaceTime Photo. Thank you to the Colburn-Keenan Foundation for funding our photo booth and crafts. Thanks to everyone who attended, and our sponsors.
